Whatever the culture maybe, whatever the country maybe, people always eat some kind of bread native to theirs.

Similarly in India bread plays a very important role in our daily lives. Some of the important ones are Naan, Roti, Parotha, Poori, Rumali roti etc. These are mostly eaten in India and all over the world by Indians.

Out of all these bread types especially “Naan” became very popular around the world.
Also, there are different types of Naan Bread which include garlic naan, coriander naan, peshwari naan, cheese naan etc.

Today you will learn the base for all the naan bread which you can make in the oven or tawa (flat pan). Very delicious and yummy.

Ingredients:

  1. All purpose flour – 125 grams
  2. Baking powder – 2 grams
  3. 2 pinches of salt
  4. 2 spoons sugar
  5. 55 ml milk (room temperature)
  6. 1 egg

Method:

Step 1: In a bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt and mix well.
Step 2: In another bowl add milk, egg, sugar and beat well until sugar is dissolved and they are combined together
Step 3: Now make a well in the flour and pour the milk mixture and knead the dough until smooth.
Step 4: Now add teaspoon of oil to flour and knead for 2min more.
Step 5: Grease the bowl with the remaining oil and leave the dough for 15min (overnight is even better).
Step 6: Make the dough in desired shape and bake in the oven on high heat for 5min or until desired colour is achieved. (see the image)
Also, turn upside down to cook the other side if you are using a tray.
Step 7: When it comes out brush with melted butter and devour it.

Note:

  1. You can also use yeast instead of baking powder.
  2. Don’t use water, use only milk.
  3. Making it on full heat gives a nice texture and colour.

For cheese naan recipe follow the steps from above until Step 5 after that make the dough in desired shape and sprinkle with loads of cheese and bake until it is cooked.
